Post subject:  Winter Prep, Newbie help

Hi everyone new here :) Coming up to my first winter, currently have a selection of youngish trees and am wondering how best to care over the winter.

I have read up on specific care for all the trees, and most are ok to be outside all year round. But given the frosts we sometimes have im wondering what most of you all do?

Currently the main ones are the Podocarpus, Japanese elm, Japansese maple and then i also bought a potted Japanese larch for £3 and slip potted it as it was still in a tiny nursery pot.
The ficcus was my first purchase at a garden center, gateway drug so to speak. This will be the only one coming in. i also have a small crab apple on its way but this is only a couple years old or so.

Im thinking of purchasing a small green house, the 4tier towered style ones and over wintering them in there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks :)

Welcome aboard Jimbo
The Podocarpus and Ficus will need protection when the first frosts come. Bear in mind that a modicum of humidity will be helpful for them and they'll need the best of light while under cover. Your other stuff, I would leave outside.

Hi thanks for the info, i have humidity trays and also a spray bottle so the humidity should be ok hopefully. So just leave them where they sit now and not bother with the greenhouse?
