That looks good for a first styling. Twin trunk trees are always a bit harder than single, but it looks fine. Blue Alps is a good variety for Bonsai. The foliage is a bit coarse but will densify with regular pinching. I, personally, wouldn't have put it into a bonsai pot just yet but waited a couple more years. You don't really want to give it " 2 insults in 1 season". and it may retard the growth. |

Really nice work Sizzla, you've done a good job. Now it's in a pot, the trunk won't really thicken up much, so I'd be tempted to reduce both trunks down a little further next time, but obviously the left more than the right. |

Thanks for the reply, I think you are correct and I shouldn't have repotted it straight away, i get carried away! I'm hopeful that it will survive but will not expect much until next year. Should I be pinching already or wait until next year? Glynjohnson wrote: Really nice work Sizzla, you've done a good job. Yes that's the plan, will probably wait until next year though for that, it should take care of the long straight bits of trunk at to top then too |

Looking good overall. I think the main trunk is growing almost straight up and the left trunk is growing almost straight out at 45 deg which don't really tell the same story. At some point I'd want to put movement into the left hand trunk and possibly shorten it a bit as well. |

Good point i will see if it can be bent later but if not I may just have to hide it or regrow it. But yes il definitely be shortening both trunks next year. Thinking about having the top of the trunk as deadwood and carving some movement into it but will look at it for a year and decide |

Yes Gary, they say one major insult per year but this has had 3 in a month and it's not skipped a beat! Just goes to show what a resilient cultivar blue alps is! |

Juniper takes a long time to show signs of stress. I'd leave it alone now probably until July next year and review it again. Remember - a healthy juniper is one with lots of foliage. |
