I have been growing-on this Larch for over 5 years since collecting and chopping it back and I feel it's now time for initial wiring
Its about 1metre high so should I prune it back further before wiring?
Also Im not happy with the lack of nebari as it has a main horizontal surface root - is it worth ground or air layering?
Any advice and design ideas would be much appreciated!

What is the height from the ground to the first branch. Do you know what style you were planning ?

If it was mine I think I would be trying to air layer between the first and second branches. There appears to be good movement above this point and plenty of branches to work with. If this worked you then have something left on the base to work with. Only my opinion. Wait to see what other inspiration appears here for you. http://www.bonsai4me.co.uk/AdvTech/AT%2 ... onsai.html

The base looks pretty interesting, maybe you could chop the red part off if it bothers u but I like it ?

Thanks for all your suggestions, and the virt Sizzla.
Im thinking that just for now I will wire down the main branches and trim down the finer growth to refine the pads to see how it looks.
Then I can review and see what inspiration I find when it comes into leaf.
I might take it along to my local club workshop at the end of this month if I can fit it in the car so I will have to do some trimming first!!
