I got this at a garden centre the other week. I have no idea what it is but it looks ok

that's a Chinese Holly, quite an easy tree to look after, so good for a beginner

I trimmed it a fair bit when I got it about 4 weeks ago but been on holiday since and its in the garden will have a good look at it and read up on them later

That holly will need regular watering. Daily if it is in free-draining medium. I hope that it didn't dry out in your absence. Feed at two week intervals with a balanced fertilizer at half recommended strength up to October and stop feeding over Winter. luckily its rained pretty much every day so its ok and I've watered every day I've been back
