Post subject:  THANKS CORIN!!

Apologies to one and all for both the shouty title and if this is in the wrong place....I've only been a member a few weeks otherwise I'd send a PM (not that I blame the mods for waiting a while before letting new members send PM's - I wouldn't trust me either :32crazy: ).

Anyhow, the boss and I just spent the day at Greenwoods for our first proper lesson in bonsai and I wanted to thank Corin for a fantastic day. Learned loads, had a laugh while doing it, and didn't managed to cut any fingers off which is always a good thing!

Joking aside, I can't recommend their intro day class highly enough as a great intro to anyone just starting out....I'd been skulking around on here and other places reading lots of helpful (if sometimes contradictory) advice etc, but being able to get live hands on advice from someone that knows what they are doing meant we both came away far more confident as well as learning new skills.

I'm now trying to work out how to be in two places at once next weekend for their show....I reckon Weston Supermare to Nottingham in one day isn't really that bad :

Thanks again Corin

Mandy and James

P.S. If you do go on the course, may be wise to leave you cards at home if it's your fiancées Birthday the next day....my poor wallet

Leave your cards at home, that spoils a fun day out at Greenwoods.
Hopefully be there on Sunday, did you treat yourself to anything?

There may have been a crab apple that fell into the car as an extra Birthday present...technically it's Mandy's though which gives me a good excuse for next time :Big Thumb:

Error, just had it pointed out that it's OUR crab tree, and that a pair of ryuga branch cutters do count as treating myself (mutters)

For the short term the plan is to try and keep the ones we have happy and get them settled in before we get any more, although Mandy's parents house back on to a wooded nature reserve owned by the village and funnily enough they are doing some clearing work at the moment :

We'd heard about Redditch bonsai club and planning to get in touch but as they only meet on Thursdays and t'better 'alf can't do Thursdays due to voluntary work so we'll probably have to find an alternative....thanks anyway for mentioning it though, much appreciated

How nice to hear of a couple catching the bonsai bug together. It's usually one half's 'thing' and the other half doesn't really get it at all. Lucky you :-)

I'm definitely a lucky man, the only downside being that she knows how much trees / tools cost so I doubt I'd be able to pull the wool if I come home with a nice tree lol

And I'm sure Mandy will be very happy with her new Crab Apple
