If you want flowers, they all have very short flowering periods. Mostly in Spring though. I personally like P. amanagawa.

The Fuji Cherry, Kojo no Mai seems popular for Bonsai, small leaves and flowers. As Don says tho' they don't flower for long.I got one last Xmas and it didn't flower very well and the rest of the year it's a bit of a non entity.Thing is you can pick them up cheap in garden centres.I seen some nice ones in my local garden centre in April, bushy and covered in flowers for £7, I was rather annoyed after what I paid for mine.

Cheers

Flowers are a bonus but just think they're nice looking trees.

I have a kojo no mai bonsai that I picked up cheaply from a local garden centre. Now would probably be a good time to buy them as it's nearly the end of the season. Although it does only flower for a short period it gives you lovely colours in the leaves at different times of the year. Plus it is always, without fail, the first tree in my collection to start budding out in spring. I would recommend everyone has a cherry bonsai.
