Hello,
I have a Giant Sequoia tree 3 years old and 2 ft tall. It is healthy but recently the branches are becoming bare on the inside close to the trunk and foliage is at the ends.
Can I do anything to encourage inner growth? Not sure of correct pruning technique.
Thanks & Regards,
1ggy

Sequoadendron giganteum are very difficult to keep in our climates. Often, thre are lower branches dying and leaves close to the trunk are dying too whereas the energy tends to go to the top.

I've recently read an article about the species being endangered in its native habitat (north-west US) because of climate warming, and our climates are probably not the best for tghese trees.

Backbudding: it works very well on this species: I had one that was becoming interesting, but it died.

Too temperamental. I mean, the tree.
