I'd say to water them every day, unless they're looking wet, just to keep it simple. Overwatering for a short period won't damage them, underwatering would. |

I was away for two weeks in apr and away for a week in june. I had my little brother pop around to water them every second day, a good drench, i had him video record me on his phone so he knew exactly how to water the entire pot. mine are in organics though, i didnt have to do this, but if i was you i'd cover each pot surface with chopped up spagnam moss, this will retain moisture should your OH forget to water for a day. |

A little tip keep a single weed in the pot with the bonsai tree when the weed starts to wilt then its time to water the tree. |

When I left home for a spell and didn't have many trees (many years ago) I used to dig a shallow trench, put my pots in it, fill it back up and drench the area before going away. It's messy but I never lost any. I miss the energy of youth.
