Hello everyone - I hope you are all well and enjoying the summer.

Not sure if you remember, but I am a beginner and have myself a few young trees. Following advice from folk on here, I have been content just growing my trees on in big pots and feeding / watering well- I moved to the Lake District from Dorset a couple of weeks ago so couldn't plant any of them in the ground. Most have put on a event amount of growth - including a Scots pine and a mugo pine. However, my Japanese white pine doesn't seem to have faired as well - despite being treated to the same levels of food and water as the others. There appears to be no growth, and today I have noticed some yellowing needles. I am not sure if these are three year old needles the tree wants to shred, or if I have got a problem? Any thoughts?

White pines lose needles every year and it looks like this.

This is a bit earlier than usual - but this happens annually.

The needles lower down are the old needles which fall after a year or two. Its when the upper ones (this years) show signs of browning or yellowing that you start to worry.
